Self Care and Shorter Days
The leaves are falling, and the colours of the sky and nature are changing dramatically. It’s beautiful and a reminder that it’s OK that I may not have the energy I had at the height of midsummer.
I want to continue to live - do what I love, move regularly, engage in my hobbies. However, I notice around this time of the year, I don’t quite have the morning oomph, I’m cold, and the sun isn’t providing its summer boost (sad!)
I recognise this, accepting that my body can still do what it loves, I simply need to prioritise my recovery and self care - prioritising sleep, and self care routines to re-energise me.
I find breathwork so useful - directing oxygen around the body, increasing blood flow to where it’s needed the most to provide energy and support recovery.
Not to forget the sauna - my favourite Autumn/Winter self care. It’s an hour to pause, take in the view, smell the scents of the sauna, connect with others and to do something for myself. The sauna feels energising but calming for my nervous system, and the blood circulating around the body relieves the tension in my muscles. Sleep quality is usually improved after the sauna, so I usually feel great the next day too!
Please reach out to me via email, or chat to me during our session if you’d like to discuss more about integrating self care routines (including breathwork and sauna) into your routine and recovery.
Puffin Sauna is my local choice in Leith. Nestled into the Leith Community Croft, there is a sauna!! It’s conveniently situated, and as of last week, has extended opening hours (Monday and Wednesday hello!).
Max is a fantastic sauna host and my experience is always delightful. He has created a lovely little nook that brings a sense of calm and relaxation.
He’d love to welcome you to Puffin Sauna, and is offering a one off discount for a 55 minute sauna session of your choice until the end of November.
